HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS

HOW TO USE YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS

Whether you  are using your
Essential Oils therapeutically or purely for pleasure, there are various ways to use them - via massage, bathing, vaporisation and inhalation:

MASSAGE  As a rule , pure Essential Oils should not be applied directly to the skin, they should be diluted first. To do this, mix up to 5 drops of pure essential oil, or blend of  essential oils, per 10mls (one tablespoon) of carrier/base oil or non scented body lotion.

BATHING
Add 3-5 drops of
Essential Oils, or blend of oils to your bath, then agitate the water to disperse. While you relax in the bath, a small amount of oil is absorbed by the skin and the rest is slowly evaporated by the heat of the water. You can also add your oils to an unscented bubble bath or enhance a similarly scented one to prevent the oils from clinging to the bath sides. Some people recommend adding the oils to a teaspoon of milk first to help dispersal.

VAPORISATION
The evaporative properties of pure
Essential Oils make them ideal for use in a vaporiser. These can be added to a suitable vapouriser or oil burner. When using an oil burner always add the oils to a suitable carrier oil or water or they may be too strong or burn off quickly. Never leave an oil burner unattended.

INHALATION
Add 3-5 drops of pure
Essential Oils to a bowl of very hot water (not boiling) and inhale the vapour for 5-10 minutes. Or for ease add 1-2 drops of essential oil to a tissue and inhale.

SAFETY INFORMATION

If you have a skin condition, are pregnant, have epilepsy or asthma, are on a course of treatment with prescribed medication, or are in any doubt about any condition you may have, it is important that you seek the advice of a doctor or suitable practitioner before using pure essential oils.

HOW TO MAKE ..... AROMATHERAPY BATH SALTS
essential oils usage

Bath Salts ~ how to make for you or as a special gift

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Dead Sea salt, regular sea salt or Epsom salt or a blend of two or three of these salts. Sea salts typically come in several grain sizes. Combining multiple grain sizes can make your salts more appealing. Keep in mind, however, that more course grains do take longer to dissolve in the bath.
  • 15-24 drops of your selected essential oil or essential oil blend. Be sure and take heed in the safety data for the oil(s) you choose to use.
  • 1 tablespoon fractionated coconut oil or other carrier oil for moisturisation (optional)

Directions: Place the salt mixture into a bowl. If you have chosen to include the optional vegetable oil to your salt recipe, add it to the plain salts and mix well with a spoon or fork. Then, add the drops of your chosen essential oils. Again, mix very well. Add the mixture to a pretty jar, salt tube, or container that has a tight fitting lid. Salts that are kept in a container that is not air tight will lose their aroma more quickly. After a day, you may wish to mix well again to ensure that the oils are well incorporated.

To Colour to Your Salts: For the most natural bath salt recipe, leave your bath salts uncoloured. Certain exotic salts including Hawaiian Red Sea salt and Black Sea Pink salt are naturally colourful. Try mixing these salts with Dead Sea or plain sea salt for a speckled effect. If you would like to add colour to your salts, liquid dye or mica powder can be added before you add the essential oils. When adding FD&C grade liquid dye, be sure to add only a drop at a time and stir well. When adding mica powder, only add a tiny amount (1/16-1/8 a teaspoon is usually sufficient) and stir very well. Using too much dye or mica powder can discolour the water and discolour skin, so be very careful. Leave bath salts at a soft pastel colour. It is also important that you make sure that you are using skin-safe colourants and that the user of your bath salt blend does not have any allergies or sensitisations with the colourant that you have chosen.

To Use: Add a handful to running bath water. Mix well to ensure that the salt has dispersed well in the tub before entering. Sitting on undisolved chunky bath salts, however, can be uncomfortable, so make sure the salts have dissolved well before entering.

essential oil recipes call us for usage

Anti-Cellulite Massage & Bath

Blend your own

Regularly massage the affected areas with the blend below to help stimulate circulation & aid the removal of toxins which cause the condition. If you can, massage morning & evening very gently after a bath/shower. Make sure you drink plenty of water to help flush these toxins away.

Measure approximately 25ml of sweet almond oil (1/2 of the 50ml bottle) into one of you empty mixing bottles & add the following.

2 x drops cypress

2 x drops fennel

2 x drops geranium

2 x drops grapefruit

2 x drops juniper

Firmly scew on the cap & shake well, your oil is now ready to use. Now you have the recipe, you will only need to replace the individual oils as you run out.

Bathing

Add 2-3 drops of the oils listed below to warm running water, allow the steam to disperse, and then soak for at least 15minutes to allow the oils to penetrate your skin. You can add the oils to a teaspoon of milk or cream to aid dispersal in the water.

Better still, make your own bath essence & save yourself a fortune by adding 10 drops of each of the oils listed below to 100ml of your favourite bath oil.
